I do things today that I would not have done yesterday
My heart skips the downbeat while my brain waits for the crescendo
I know the future as well as I know what the past has brought.

I wish I were someone else.
Really, I do.
A poet so I could express my thoughts in an eloquent way.
Not in this clunky way I call mine
But with the recognition and credibility of one whose words travel the centuries.

 I wish I were a rapper.
Stringing words in rapid fire, faster and faster.

Rage boils over the pot while happiness flees the crime scene
Anger fumes and fills its container while joy fades to black
Disappointment festers in the gash it tore open itself
Sadness expands with the force of the big bang
Darkness creeps, leaving its sanctuary, tearing down the light

Trust is built upon sand from the Sahara itself
Sand that was lovingly coerced to become glass
It has taken much to reach this point
But do not touch, for it is shattered with the slightest of blows.
