Maui Jim Sunglasses is a luxury sunglasses manufacturer based in Peoria, IL. While a student at Bradley University, I started working for Maui Jim as a "Digital Content Intern". My responsibilities in this position ranged from simple Digital Content management to various Data Analysis work, along with daily support of the larger Digital Team.
Post-graduation, I accepted a full-time position with Maui Jim as a "Mobile and Analytics Application Product Specialist". With this promotion, my day-to-day responsibilities shifted to managing the development and maintenance of Maui Jim's "Lae Ula" sales enablement application.
Given my success with Lae Ula and other mobile applications, I was promoted to "Supervisor - Mobile Applications" in January of 2020 and began interviewing for my first direct report. Unfortunately, CoVID-19 hit shortly after and my hiring initiative was frozen before I could grow the team.
With 250+ Account Executives (AEs) across the globe, Maui Jim used a suite of bespoke iOS applications to help their AEs achieve sales success. The primary app was called "Lae Ula"; Lae Ula started as a simple Order and Inventory application but throughout my time with Maui Jim, Lae Ula grew to encompass many activities such as Sales Prospecting, Visit Tracking, logging Remote Work, real-time Data Analysis, and more.
My work on Lae Ula culminated in the development of an Augmented Reality Quick Inventory tool. This tool leveraged Machine Learning to train an algorithm on the Maui Jim sunglasses line until it was able to recognize an individual pair of Maui Jim sunglasses with a 98% confidence level. Using this tool, Account Executives could walk up to a display case of sunglasses (containing anywhere from 36 - 128 sunglasses) and use their iPhone's camera to take an inventory of the product in that display case.
Unfortunately, I cannot include images or videos of the app due to it being proprietary to Maui Jim.
